Sports Leagues Rules and Regulations Adult Softball Local Rules
Revised May 1, 2006
These Local Rules are in addition to the official USSSA Rules for Slow Pitch and Modified Pitch Softball. Where there are conflicting rules, these local rules supercede the USSSA rules. As an example, the USSSA rules for Modified Pitch allow for “bunting” where the local rules forbid it.
Player & Team Eligibility
There are 2 leagues, Adult Modified Pitch and Men’s Slow Pitch. The Adult Modified Pitch League is separated into multiple divisions. In 2006, there are 4 divisions commonly referred to as “A”, “B”, “C”, and “D” Leagues.
1) A player must be 18 years or older prior to May 1, 2006.
2) All new players must be Freehold Township Residents.
3) All new teams must be 100% Freehold Township Residents.
4) The "grandfather" policy for Non Freehold Township Residents is as follows: Only returning players from last season (Spring/Summer 2005) may play this season. They are eligible to play on any returning team from last season (Spring/Summer 2005).
5) Within the Adult Modified League, players may play on a maximum of 2 teams, with the following restrictions:
a. There are no players on the waiting list to play in the modified league.
b. The two teams are in adjacent divisions. For example, a player on a "B" League team may play on an "A" League 'or' on a "C" League team, but not on a "D" League team.
c. A player cannot play on 2 teams within the same division.
6) Team rosters must have a minimum of 12 players and a maximum of 18.
7) A team using a player or players not registered with the Parks & Recreation Department will cause game or games in which player participates to be forfeited.
8) Under normal circumstances, players may be added to the roster until June 15th. Additions after June 15 must obtain approval from The Recreation Department.
