Freehold Township has instituted a program
to assist residents in replacing the sidewalk and curbing
in front of their homes. This is how you can participate:
| 1. |
Call the Engineering
Department (732) 294-2070 to schedule an inspection to
evaluate the condition and extent of the repairs that
are needed for your sidewalk and curb. |
| 2. |
If the sidewalk or curbing is in
need of replacement, the Engineering Department will forward
an evaluation form detailing the extent of repairs needed. |
| 3. |
A maximum of $7.00/s.f. will be
paid for 4" concrete sidewalk and a maximum of $9.00/s.f.
will be paid for the replacement of the 6" reinforced
concrete driveway apron and adjacent sidewalks at the
driveway. The curbing along the driveway apron will be
replaced at the Township's expense or reimbursing you
for this work. A maximum of $20.00/l.f. will be paid for
vertical concrete curbing and a maximum of $25.00/l.f.
for combination concrete curbing and gutter. |
| 4. |
If the property owner wishes to participate
in this program, they need to sign and date the evaluation
form and return it to the Engineering Department. |
| 5. |
The property owner will then be notified
if there are funds available for the 50% Township reimbursement. |
| 6. |
The contractor must also take out
a permit For Excavation within Township Right-of-Way from
the Township Clerk's Office for a fee of $83.00 (cash
or personal check) and also post a refundable $500.00
bond (certified check or cash only) . The refundable bond
deposit will be returned after proper completion of the
work, receipt of a concrete load ticket, and final inspection
of the work by the Engineering Department. |
| 7. |
All utility services must be marked
out prior to construction by calling 1-800-272-1000. |
| 8. |
If tree roots have uprooted the sidewalk,
the contractor is to coordinate with the Shade Tree Department
to have the roots cut, if necessary, during the time of
sidewalk installation. Please contact the Shade Tree Department
at (732) 294-2073 prior to construction to schedule removal
of any tree roots. |
| 9. |
All concrete work is to be NJ Class
B concrete. Sidewalks must be 4" in depth. Driveway
aprons and sidewalks at aprons must be 6" and include
6" wire mesh. Please contact the Engineering Department
24 hours in advance for inspection of forms prior to concrete
pour. |
| 10. |
All work must be complete within
six months of the certification date. Failure to have
the work done within six months of the certification date
will render the application void and the property owner
would have to reapply subject to the availability of funds. |
| 11. |
Following the completion of the work,
which must be inspected by the Township, the property
owner will submit a paid itemized bill to the Engineering
Department in order to be reimbursed. |
