Fire Hydrant Flushing
Hydrant flushing is a maintenance
procedure needed to clean the water mains and to operate
and maintain each fire hydrant in the Township. Freehold
Township has over 1,100 fire hydrants that are inspected
and tested during the flushing process twice per year,
once in the spring and once in the fall. Flushing will
be done between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm, Monday
through Friday. If any water discoloration is noticed
at your tap during the flushing process, you should run
your cold water only for approximately two minutes. If
this does not clear the problem, contact the Utility Department
on (732) 294-2170.
*PLEASE
NOTE: Insurance companies may give a discount on
homeowners policies if you are within a certain distance
of a fire hydrant. Check with your insurance company for
details.
