Public Defender
Defendants charged with offenses that
carry potential penalties of consequence may wish to be represented
by an attorney, but feel that they cannot afford one. An application
for representation by the Public Defender may be presented
to the judge
for his review. The judge, following the guidelines established
by the State, will determine an applicant's eligibility. An
application fee of $0-$200 will be assessed
if the assigned counsel is granted.
