Freehold Township has been providing
outstanding recreational opportunities to residents of
all age groups for more than 35 years.
In addition to being continually challenged
to provide a variety of quality recreational activities,
including events at our Senior Complex, trips and special
events to an
ever-increasing number of participants, the Parks and
Recreation Department actively seeks to meet the demand
for first rate programs, multi-purpose athletic fields
and picnic areas as well as passive parklands.
Freehold Township has fourteen parks which offer the traditional
neighborhood facilities, such as playgrounds, tennis courts,
basketball courts and sand volleyball courts; while others
offer a protected open space area. These park sites range
in acreage from 0.5 acres to 226 acres.
Residents are encouraged to get involved
in their park areas. Our Park Helpers keep us informed about
our township parks. Call us if you see a problem developing
and become a Park Helper.
Picnic and Room
Rentals
Many fine picnic areas are available at Michael J. Tighe Park.
While these areas are open to the public, they can be reserved
for group use. If your group is looking for a great picnic
site, give us a call. We have five beautiful sites in the
park. People can cross from the Jackson Mills Road side of
the park to the Georgia Road side of the park by way of a
pedestrian bridge.
Planning a party, reception or other special
occasion? The Senior Center offers a large banquet room
capable of seating 250 for a meal. For reservations and
other information, call the Senior Center at 732-294-2029.
