When making property tax payments through your personal banking on-line system, please be aware that the payments take 7-10 days to be delivered to our office. Payments are not wired directly to the Tax office. Bill-pay services send an actual check through the mail. The checks are received in bulk and although they have various dates, they are delivered together in one envelope. We process the payments on the day they are received from the Post Office.
To avoid any delinquent charges with bill-pay, please schedule your tax payments to be delivered by the due date which is the 1st of each quarter. If you wish to pay at the end of the grace period, your bill-pay service is not the best payment option.
For your convenience, we also offer two other electronic payment methods:
1) Online bill pay service made via the internet on the Freehold Township Website. There are convenience fees that will be charged to the user for each transaction. The fee for using an e-check is a flat $1.95 per transaction (you enter bank routing number and account number). The fee for using a pin-less Visa debit card is 2.95%. We do not accept credit cards.
2) Auto-debit is available at no cost. We would need a completed application to be filed with the Tax Collector along with a voided check. With auto-debit, there is no worry as to an untimely payment. It is a safe and efficient process for making tax payments.
And as always, we accept payment in the office by personal check or cash, or in the over-night drop box which is located to the left of the front door.
