Hydrant flushing is a maintenance procedure needed to clean the water mains and to operate and maintain each fire hydrant in the Township. Freehold Township has over 1,100 fire hydrants that are inspected and tested during the flushing process twice per year, once in the spring and once in the fall. If any water discoloration is noticed at your tap during the flushing process, you should run your cold water only for approximately two minutes. The Freehold Township Water Department will commence hydrant flushing on Monday, March 27, 2023 and continue through Friday, June 23, 2023. Flushing will be done between the hours of 8:00am and 3:00pm Monday through Friday.
The Flushing may cause the water to become slightly discolored. Running the cold water for several minutes should clear up the problem. Call 732-294-2170 with any questions or concerns.
