  1. Freehold Township Shade Tree Department Street Beautification Tree Replacement Request Form

    Street Beautification Tree Replacement Program

Freehold Township has a free program for residential homeowners to replace missing Street Beautification trees. When funds are available, a seasonal fall or spring planting of up to 50 trees will be scheduled. The program is not held annually.

Shade/Street Beautification trees are often planted along the roadway frontage of a home in a neighborhood, typically near the sidewalk or on the homeowner’s property near the road.

Filling out this form places you on the replacement tree request list. If eligible, the replacement tree(s) will be planted for free -- at no cost to the homeowner. Funding for this program is not from taxpayer dollars; it is provided through tree removal permits fees.

When a planting is scheduled, the property will be visited to determine if space is available for a replacement tree(s) and homeowners will be notified if they are eligible.

To be eligible for the program, homeowners must complete the information below, and agree to these requirements and conditions:

    1. This program is only open to Freehold Township residential homeowners, not builders, residents who live in developments with HOA’s, or commercial entities.

    2. Trees will only be planted along the roadway/frontage of a home, not in backyards or elsewhere on the property.

    3. The Shade Tree Commission (STC), not the homeowner, will select approved and appropriate tree species and determine the planting location to ensure healthy growth and survival.

    a. If the homeowner does not approve of the location markout/species a tree will not be planted.

    b. If the homeowner can’t be reached or does not respond they will have to reapply.

    4. The homeowner must accept responsibility for the care and maintenance of the tree (water, pruning, weeding, mulch, etc.).

    5. If the tree begins to decline within the first 12 months of the planting, the homeowner must notify Public Works/STC before the anniversary of the original planting.
